Exploring Leadership Cohort

Summary: The Exploring Leadership Cohort will provide aspiring leaders an experience that will both give space to reflect on personal values, strengths, and aspirations and expose participants to leadership opportunities throughout DCPS. Participants will leave the program with a strong sense of their personal leadership strengths, and a professional growth plan for the next 3-5 years. 

Key Programming Themes  

Programming for this cohort will focus on two primary areas:  

  1. Self:  

    1. Reflection on personal leadership style and strengths 

    2. Personal goal setting  

    3. Action planning for career growth 

  2. System:  

    1. Knowledge, mindsets, and beliefs required to lead in DCPS 

    2. Exposure to leadership positions in DCPS 

    3. Building a portfolio to be a strong candidate for future leadership 

Eligible Educators: This program is geared toward high performing educators who have been teaching in the district for at least three years. The program will be open to any effective or highly effective educator meeting those requirements, but highest priority in this group would be teachers who meet the “established” and “advanced” designation through LIFT, and TLIs or LEAP leaders interested in moving into higher leadership positions. 

Educators most suited to this program will be those who are asking “what next” as they think about their career at DCPS. This program will help them to answer that question and present the actions participants can take to reach their goals.​​
